The Harbourhead Restaurant has been owned
and operated by Roy and Louise Stone for the past 22 years.
The couple met on a cruise liner and settled in Louise’s native Girvan rather than return to Manchester from
where Roy hails.
Roy began his career producing top
quality food at the exclusive Mere Golf and Country Club in Cheshire more years ago than he cares to remember!
He went on to become P&O's youngest Chief Petty Officer, responsible
for catering and also worked on Cunard Lines' prestigious liner, the QE2.
So when Fleet Street journalist Brian Viner dropped in whilst covering the Open Golf Championship at Turnberry in
2009, it’s hardly suprising that he gave the Harbourhead such glowing praise.
What’s the secret?
“There’s
no secret,” says Roy.
“We use the
best ingredients. People know if you don’t, so it’s a false economy,” he states, although he’s far
too modest to say that he also adds his skill as chef to turn out the standard of food that Harbourhead regulars return for
time and time again.
If you haven't yet dined at
the Harbourhead Restarant, book your table now. You’ll be very pleasantly suprised. What’s more, the Harbourhead
is not pretentious, so prices are very reasonable. The value is very much on the plate!
